How to Make a Diya for Diwali

Celebrate Diwali by creating your own festival of lights in your classroom!

You will need

• Air hardening clay
• Ready mix paint
• Flameless tea lights

To make a diya for Diwali

1. With a block of air hardening clay, sculpt a small, hollow dish big enough for a tea light candle to sit inside.
2. Once you have the basic shape, embellish with as much detail as you like to create your diya for Diwali. Leave to harden.
3. Paint with a variety of colours. A clear varnish can also be used.
4. Place a Flameless tea light in the diya.
